In his laudatory speech, Congress President Prof. Jürgen Hoffmann, Medical Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany, focused in particular on his pioneering work in the development of osteosynthesis techniques, especially the so-called Champy dynamic-stable miniplate osteosynthesis, which revolutionized the treatment of fractures of the facial skull in the 1980s and has become the gold standard in the treatment of patients with this type of pathology worldwide.
