The course was driven by a well specialized faculty in the field of TMJ treatment featuring Dr. Florencio Monje (Badajoz, Spain), Dr. Andrew Sidebottom (Nottingham, UK), Dr. Anwer Abdullakutty (East Grinstead, UK), Dr. Divya Mehrotra (Lucknow, India) and Dr. Pramod Subash (Kochi, India). Scientific lectures were held in the reputable Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi and the cadaver workshops were conducted in the Anatomy Lab of the Medical School. With over 30 participants, coming from India, Egypt, Azerbaijan and the Maldives, this was truly a diverse course with an abundance of interesting discussions and an exchange of knowledge. Attendees first attended a 1 ½ day theoretical part covering a range of clinical TMJ cases, treatment options and concepts. The lectures were accompanied by a one-day hands-on cadaver workshop (maximum 2 participants per cadaver specimen) where treatments such as TMJ arthrocentesis and arthroscopy were performed as well as open surgical approaches to the joint area. The experienced faculty, the facilities at Amrita and the great number of interested participants made for a very successful first SORG TMJ Course in India.
