15 years after the first SORG Free Flap Course, the 8th edition of this teaching event series was celebrated from November 07th - 10th at Groningen University Medical Center in the Netherlands.

This exclusive, fully booked course chaired by Massimo Maranzano (GB-Manchester) and co-organized by local Course Coordinator Ruud Bos (NL-Groningen) featured up-to-date lectures on the basic anatomy and harvesting techniques for the most commonly used local, regional and free flaps during the first day. It was followed by two full days practical exercises on fresh cadavers with maximum two attendees each to explore anatomy and to raise the most common microsurgical transplants in head and neck reconstructive surgery.

The program was rounded by a last day focussing on the 3D environment featuring an overview on new supportive techniques in terms of planning, workflows and case demonstrations. The small group of participants and the high-calibre faculty consisting of John Devine (UAE-Abu Dhabi), Rui Fernandes (USA-Jacksonville, FL), Alexander Gaggl (A-Salzburg), Jürgen Hoffmann (D-Heidelberg), Marco Kesting (D-Erlangen) as well as Massimo Maranzano himself allowed for individual guidance and open discussions anytime during the week.
