Course concept

This event is a 2-day course for learning how to perform virtual planning for everyday routine using 3D models, as well as using cutting-edge technologies like mixed reality. The course will equip you with the skills to plan surgeries more accurately and effectively, using both traditional and newer planning techniques.

  • Overview of software, procedure, and technologies (Schreurs)
  • Clinical benefits and limitations (Wagner)

13:00 – 15:30 | Hands-On I

  • Case-based Guided Live demonstration with specific learning objectives (Dubois, Essig, Schreurs, Wagner, Sabelis)
    • Case A (zygomatic fracture) – Planning principles, export stl file for printing a planned 3D-Model
    • Case B (orbital fracture) – Selection, alignment and adjustment of preformed implants; manufacturing a navigation splint with IPS/Brainlab
    • Case C (Panfacial Fracture) – Complex midfacial reconstruction; orbital reconstruction with preformed implant; planning nasal strut graft

  • Case D (Secondary zygomatic orbital reconstruction with PSI) – PSI planning, cutting guide planning (Schreurs, Sabelis)

    • Pre-bending flat plates, moulding plates / mesh plates with 3D model
    • Reposition and fixation on fractured models
    • Intraoperative quality control – navigation, AR, 3D-Scan
  • Group I: Pre-bending on models 
  • Group II: Registration and navigation
  • Group III: Mixed Reality (Sabelis)
  • Group IV: Intra-operative imaging with Loop-X

  • Case D of Day 1 (Faculty)
    • Osteotomy on 3D models, Reposition and fixation with Patient-specific implants
    • Intraoperative quality control – navigation, AR, 3D-Scan

Cancellation by course organizer

  • the course organizer reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the course non-viable.
  • if the organizer cancels a course, registrants will be offered a full refund of registration fees. The organizer will not reimburse other costs incurred with the course (travel or hotel bookings by participants not made by the organizer).
  • should circumstances arise that result in postponement of a course, the organizer has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.

Registration cancellation by participant:

  • The deadline to receive a refund for your registration is 21 business days before the course.
  • Registration cancellations received prior to the deadline may be eligible to receive a refund less a service fee of € 100.-.
  • Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend the course.
  • Cancellations will be accepted in writing only and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. When writing your cancellation please include the details of your credit card or bank details (BIC).
