Patient-Specific Solutions in OMF Surgery
SORG Satellite Symposium @SFOMK 2024
Course concept
Three-dimensional virtual surgical treatment planning in orthognathic surgery and reconstructive surgery using patient-specific solutions has significantly developed during the last decade. These new technologies are intended to optimize the predictable transmission of the treatment plan and accurate intraoperative repositioning of the bony segments to obtain an optimal aesthetic and functional outcome in orthognathic and reconstructive surgery. However, do these patient-specific solutions improve the accuracy and stability of the surgical procedure, and what are the future possibilities with these patient-specific solutions? Besides these two topics, patient-specific facial transformation surgery is another indication where patients’ pre- and post-surgical regimens will be shown using custom-made guides and implants.
In the present course, we will present current knowledge and future possibilities regarding patient-specific solutions in orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery as well as transformation surgery, including a discussion of the accuracy and stability of these new technologies.
